The Band
Carolyn Johnson has played bass with Bill McKeeth for six years and loves the challenge of playing everything from classic country to gospel to old standards. She also played bass for five years with "AnD Friends", and spent another five years playing Bluegrass fiddle with the "Back Porch Pickers." She also does pick-up work with other bands.
She is a past President, a past Chairman of the Board, and a current Board member of the Idaho Sawtooth Bluegrass Association. She also serves as Vice-President of the Idaho Bluegrass Association. Before retiring in 2005, she was a professor and the founding Chair of the Department of Educational Technology at Boise State University where she is now Professor Emeritus. |
Bill McKeeth, the leader of the band, has been playing guitar and singing since he was 13. He is a gifted vocalist with a versatile range and plays guitar that summarizes the threads and rhythms of many instruments at once.
He chose the name "Single Car Garage Band" to represent music from a former time and of humble beginnings. As a spinoff of a 3 CD set titled "Country Roads," the band often performs under that name. The band was started in 2002 with his sister Debra and brother-in-law Denny. Band members have evolved and morphed into the present configuration with some wonderful talent moving through the ranks. Bill and Carolyn have donated hundreds of hours playing to the "elderly and shut-ins" in the Treasure Valley. They welcome Jade to this most satisfying adventure. Bill is President of the Idaho Blue Grass Association and has served in that position for several years. This organization promotes Bluegrass and Country music in the Treasure Valley through workshops, instructional jam sessions for beginners, and weekly performance jams open to the public. |
Jade Rose plays percussion and is the newest member of the band. She has performed vocals with several choirs and a Bluegrass band. She engages with audiences whenever she performs. She has several years of community theater experience including the musical productions "Camelot", "The Nutcracker Melodrama Style", and "Sleeping Beauty".
Jade has traveled widely and enjoys working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Within a multifaceted career in education she has taught English and Journalism in grades K-14 as well as Adult Education. She speaks and is learning to sing in French and Spanish. |
